Development Worker – Volunteering Client Support
Ruhela co-ordinates our peer mentoring support programme for women in crisis or suffering low level mental ill-health. Before starting work for us in 2011, Ruhela worked as a health advisor in the NHS. She was also an active volunteer on community projects, helping to set up HCA itself in 2007 and later the Mohilar Asha women’s support group. Ruhela is fluent in Bengali and English, with some Urdu.
Development Worker – Learning Employability
Hasina plans, organises and delivers some of our skills and employability training programmes for women. She joined us in 2011 as the community development trainee on our former Bengali Women’s Programme. Hasina has an MA from Bangladesh in Social Sciences and is also a translator in Bangla and some Urdu.
Bilingual Community Liaison Worker
Fouzia is our Ethnic Minority Community Liaison Worker for the NHS Be Well Service. Fouzia supports people in accessing the service, sign posts to other services and organises Health Forums. Before starting work for us Fouzia worked for 25 years on various roles such as a Parenting Facilitator to deliver Evidence based Parenting programmes across Tameside. She also worked for a long time for Barnardo’s as a Family Support Worker, as a part time Ethnic Minority Palliative Care Support Worker with the NHS and as a Bilingual Co Worker with Social Care. She also worked 10 years as a Youth and Community Worker with Tameside Council. She has done interpreting and translating work for the NHS and local authorities. Fouzia is fluent in Urdu, Punjabi, English and Hindi.
Paul is responsible for providing centre coordination, publicity, data and finance administration. Paul joined us in 2014 and has previously worked as a school IT teacher and an aircraft engineer.
Marketing and Publicity Officer
Line joined the team in 2016 to provide marketing, web and social media support. She has a background in design and web and substantial experience in marketing. Line has worked for training providers and charities before joining HCA.
Chief Officer – job share
Rehana has been with us since 2009 and previously managed our Bengali Women’s Programme 2011-14 and subsequent community learning programmes. She came to us from a local children’s centre and has an NVQ level 4 in Management, NVQ level 3 in Coaching, Volunteer Management and Community Interpreting. Rehana holds a PTTLS qualification.
Chief Officer – job share
Gemma started work as our Youth Coordinator in 2012 and went on to manage the Community Development Programme and Women Supporting Women Project. Before joining Hyde Community Action, Gemma worked for the local authority youth service and within supported housing. She has a degree in Psychology and Criminology, an NVQ level 3 in Community Development and Learning and is a qualified Youth Worker. Gemma holds a PTTLS qualification.
